I agree with Jane's plan to get up two and a half hours before leaving for work. I make mine one and a half. That seems to be enough to do the important preparations for the day. I am amused by Brenda's description and most commercials that have people waking up to sunshine. Maybe on weekends. I do like getting to work early. Miss a lot of traffic. I have to drive the worst road in Dallas. Less anxiety to start with. I prefer the comics in the morning. I am easily amused. Then it's checking emails and The Drudge Report. AND eating a good breakfast. No hot drinks.

A wonderful and insightful list, Brenda. No wonder you and Steve are so happy together!
I can think of one more thing that seems to work for my husband and me: Respect and support. If you respect your partner and their abilities and you support their goals and dreams, you will grow together in forging the life you want as a couple.

I wake up two-and-a-half-hours before I need to leave the house. Some would say that's madness, but I use that time to go through my morning routine at a slower pace. I start my day right by giving myself the gift of time.

Each morning I wake up and give thanks for my day. After my morning meditation. I like to sit on the couch, drink my hot beverage greet my dog, gaze into the trees and watch the birds at the feeder.By then my husband is awake and we then prepare for the day. All these things make a difference in my day.

Dear Brenda,

I love your "Staying Positive" note, because that is how I've always lived my life. You're right, we are very fortunate to have so much in the world. We need to stand back and look at our good fortune, no matter what. We all react to difficult times and have the right to feel down; however, when it's all said and done, we're just plain lucky to be living here and have the opportunities in life that so many others don't have.

Laurie

Snow in LA, now that's an unusual event. I had a friend in elementary school who was from Texas. When she moved east she became hysterical the first time she saw snow because she thought there was something wrong with her eyes!
